Having a high school education can open many doors for you. You can qualify for more jobs and apply for college. It can even help you better manage your health.

Eligibility requires that you:

• Are an AlohaCare QUEST Integration member age 18 through 50.
• Do not have a high school diploma, GED^® or high school equivalency.
• Have a primary care provider (PCP).
• Completed an annual well-check visit within one year of program enrollment.
• Have the ability to read and speak English higher than a 7th grade level.

The benefit supports the requirements needed to complete the HIDOE’s high school equivalency program. It covers:

1. Educational assessment to determine which classes are needed for completion.
2. Enrollment and class instruction (math, reading, science, and social studies as needed).
3. Required books and a calculator if needed.
4. Fee reimbursement for the GED^® test or high school equivalency exam.
5. Copy of diploma.
6. Supportive pathway for high school equivalency completion.

You pay a $0 copay. (There is a $1500 coverage limit for the benefit.)

The program started in late 2021 with three locations provided by WCSA - O'ahu:  Windward Campus at Kalāheo High School; Waipahu Campus at Waipahu High School. Hawai'i Island: Hilo Campus at Waiākea High School. More classes and locations will be added over the next few years.

You can refer an eligible family member who is a current AlohaCare QUEST Integration member. However, the enrolling member will be required to follow-up and complete the intake form independently.

The GED^® is one type of high school equivalency test and is included in this education benefit program. This is a comprehensive education program that includes assessment, classes, books, testing, and diploma. You will need to complete the entire program (placement test, preparation classes, GED^® test completion, and diploma obtainment).

If you are no longer covered by AlohaCare while enrolled in classes, you will be responsible to pay the costs for those classes.

Accommodations vary. WCSA provides reasonable accommodations within the classroom such as preferential seating, small class size, etc. WCSA teachers and staff will help AlohaCare members navigate the process should they need testing accommodations. Accommodations that require specific equipment or services, for example, hearing and visually impaired is typically done through the Hawai‘i Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
